The extensions of Tata Photon Data Cards

Part of the larger Tata Group of industries as Tata Teleservices Limited, Tata Indicom is an established player in the telecom industry in India. It facilitates all three modules of telecom services: mobile phone, internet and television, thus making it amongst the few teleservices providers today with such a varied portfolio.

Tata Indicom's internet services are marketed as Tata Photon . Tata Photon is an exclusively wireless network, premised wholly on a variety of USB data cards for internet access. Tata Photon plans are made available through both prepaid and postpaid services and through its three USB data cards, Tata Photon Plus, Tata Photon Whiz and Tata Photon Max. Tata Photon Plus and Tata Photon Whiz offer speeds up to 3.1 mpbs and 153.6 kbps respectively, plans being structured, as has been said, either as prepaid or postpaid and so gradated on the basis of usage, speed and limit. Photon Max, on the other hand, has a fixed rate and offers speeds up to 6.2 mbps.

Unlike Tata Photon Plus and Tata Photon Max, both of which are for accessing the internet through computers, Whiz also works as a mobile phone, enabling internet access and mobile phone usage, such as texting, at the same time. Further, Tata Photon Plus is also available for use in mobile phones through both prepaid and postpaid services. What's more, with Photon Plus for mobiles one can access the internet through a desktop and/or laptop using a mobile phone.

Last, but not the least, Tata Photon also allows for a variety of apps like live TV, photo sharing, music streaming. It's important to note that all of this is made available as broadband internet services and not, as some may mistakenly assume, 3G services. Tata's 3G services are marketed separately as Tata Docomo .
