Reliance Netconnect and 3G
Besides offering 2G telecommunication services, Reliance Communications, one India's leading telecom operators, also offer internet, 3G and TV connectivity. Reliance's presence in these spheres makes the industry leaner and more competitive.
Reliance offers internet services as part of Reliance Netconnect and Reliance Broadband services. Both dial up and broadband services are offered at various, gradated costs. These are factors of usage and speed and downloading limit. A crucial difference between Reliance Netconnect and Reliance Broadband is that the former is a wireless service accessed through a Reliance Data Card while the latter is a fixed line service (which can, however, be locally used as wireless through a wireless router). Of course, from the technical aspect Reliance Netconnect is also a broadband service in as much that it offers speeds more than 256 kbps so that the common misnomer, Reliance Netconnect Broadband, is actually that out of place.
Besides this, the internet can also be accessed through Reliance 3G. With Airtel and Aircel, Reliance has the biggest chunk of the 3G spectrum in India and so is one of the leading 3G providers in the country. Reliance 3G is made available as part of many new handsets marketed by Reliance; otherwise, it can be accessed through any 3G compatible handset. In the latter case, having a Reliance 3G Data Card enables one to access Reliance 3G even if the handset is not one of those which are marketed by Reliance as part of its 3G promotion strategy.
Last, but not the least, till some time back Reliance Netconnect left a lot to be desired as part of its customer care services. While this is understandable considering Reliance too was a new entrant in the internet facilitation market, any sort of laxity in customer services today would have no justification given the competitive mood of the market.
