Tata to merge all its brands into Docomo- Does it change anything for the users

If you can’t get rid of that ‘DO-CO-MO’ tune that runs in your head even after the commercials are long over, you would know exactly why Tata Tele services has decided  to club all  its brands under the umbrella of  the now famous DOCOMO. Till now Tata Docomo had confined itself to GSM based plans. Recent spurt of Docomo 3G commercials had created quite an impact on its market figures. The now-clubbed tele-services which were offered by Tata were Tata Photon – the high speed data card, CDMA powered Indicom brand and the fixed line Walky.

The one Brand, one call centre and one central website idea is sure to save a lot for the Tata tele-services. But how will that affect the Tata Mobile Plans in this centralised setup is yet to be seen. A little known fact is that DOCOMO is not just a brand name but also indicates the share of Japanese NTT Docomo Company in Tata Tele. While this will be a big gain on marketing front, it will also see CDMA, Photon and GSM services being sold at same outlets. This is indeed a big plus for the consumers.
